The street scene is Downtown Bartow, looking east on Main Street
at the intersection of Central Avenue, l886. The building on the corner at extreme left
housed the Lang Brothers Dry Goods Store on the first floor. Ten years later, in
l896, this same building housed the original W. M. Burdine and Son store, forerunner of
Burdines department stores.
